About Us
The Mathematics Research Center (MRC) was established in 2025 at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), under the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The MRC was founded with a clear purpose: to build a genuine mathematical research environment in Baku — a place where ideas are developed carefully, discussed openly, and turned into meaningful results.
Our main research areas are Algebra, Geometry, Graph Theory, and Number Theory. We value deep engagement with these fields and encourage interaction across them whenever this leads to new insight and new questions.
The MRC supports mathematicians at every stage of their careers. We welcome undergraduate students, doctoral candidates, established researchers, and visiting scholars from other institutions. Our regular biweekly seminar series forms the backbone of our scientific life, bringing together participants to present and discuss current work. Beyond the seminars, we organize conferences, host international visitors, and are developing a summer school program to further enrich the research environment.
Looking ahead, we are establishing a doctoral program in Mathematics — one of our central long-term commitments to the development of mathematical research and education in Azerbaijan.
We believe a mathematical center should also serve as a community. We place importance on mentorship, the exchange of ideas, and the encouragement of young researchers. We are dedicated to advancing mathematical excellence at ASOIU and Baku while strengthening our integration into the global scientific community.
Azerbaijan’s dedicated center for mathematical research.
Welcome to the Mathematics Research Center. The MRC was established with a firm belief that Azerbaijan deserves a dedicated environment for mathematical research — a place where mathematicians can think deeply, collaborate freely, and produce work of lasting value. We are committed to pursuing this goal with rigor and ambition.
We believe a research center should be more than a collection of individuals working in parallel. It should be a genuine community, one that supports young talent, welcomes experienced researchers, and creates the conditions in which rigorous mathematics can flourish. This is the spirit we hope visitors, collaborators, and prospective members will find reflected in everything we do.
This is still the beginning, and there is much ahead of us. I invite you to explore our website, follow our activities, and reach out if you would like to get involved.
